本州、四国、九州及び琉球列島に分布し、中国、台湾及び北アメリカからも知られている。主に森林の堆葉層から得られる。オスは琉球列島では普通に生息するが、温帯域では見られない。食菌性。

This species is distributed across Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and the Ryukyu Islands, and is also known from China, Taiwan, and North America. It is primarily collected from forest litter. Males are common in the Ryukyu Islands but are absent from temperate regions. Fungus-feeder.
